Alpha-Gal Syndrome (AGS) is a vector-born–associated, immunoglobulin E (IgE)–mediated condition that stems from an allergic reaction to galactose-alpha-1,3-galactose (alpha-gal), a sugar molecule predominantly found in most non-primate mammals like beef, pork, lamb, rabbit, and venison. Additionally, it’s present in mammalian products like gelatin, cow’s milk, and other dairy products.
